This the final build of 3CX Phone System v8 which will be released early next week. Unless there are major showstoppers, this release will go ‘Gold’! What is a FoIP FoIP – FAX over IP, is the technology used to allow faxing via the computer network. Because Fax is not ideally suited to travel via a normal phone call, the T38 protocol was developed. A FoIP (FAX) call is very similar to a normal VoIP (voice) call. In essence it is a call that transmits FAX data over an IP network. How the 3CX Phone System FAX Server Service receives Faxes 3CX Phone System has a separate fax server service, that acts as a SIP clients and is dedicated to receiving faxes. An updated build has been released with some improvements and fixes. Note on upgrading: If you are uninstalling 3CX Phone System version v7.1 6589 and you make heavy use of the 3CX Tunnel Service, it may happen that the 3CX Phone System service will not stop in a timely fashion. To proceed with the installation open Task manager (right click on the task bar, Task Manager), right click on the 3CXPhoneSystem.exe process, and Click End Process. The installation will then proceed automatically as usual. Connecting to a Fax to print to Fax from a Windows XP Computer The scope of this article is to be able to send faxes to a shared printer. This shared printer can be any printer – hardware and software. However in relation to 3CX Phone System, the shared printer in this case would eventually be a computer/server with the 3CX Fax Sending module installed. The 3CX Fax Sending module will be shared and users in the network will be able to connect to it and send faxes through it using Microsoft Fax. Add Printer Wizard Click start and go to Printers & Faxes, and select Add Printer. The Add printer wizard will launch.

Enable Microsoft Fax Services on Windows Server 2008 Windows Server 2008 needs to have the fax services role enabled to be able to use the 3CX Fax sending module to send faxes via Microsoft Fax. This document applies to Windows Server 2008, Server 2008 R2, SBS Server 2008 Access Server Manager. (Administrative tools) Go to Control Panel and click on “Programs and Features”. Click on “Turn Windows Features On or Off”.
