3CX Assistant integration with Outlook, Salesforce.com

3CX CRM Integration overview 3CX Assistant includes a CRM Integration module to allow it to integrate with Microsoft Outlook or Salesforce.com When a call arrives to your extension, you will be notified about it with a screen pop-up containing the information of the contact that is calling you. In order to do this, the CRM integration module searches in Microsoft Outlook Contact folder or Salesforce Contact and Lead tables. If the callerid matches an entry in the CRM application database, the contact’s information will be shown in the screen pop-up. If the Caller ID is not matched, you are also provided the option to save this contact as a new contact.

Fax over VoIP Providers

Fax over VoIP Providers

Receiving faxes from VoIP Providers Incoming faxes from VoIP Providers can be quite tricky when compared to receiving of faxes from PSTN, ISDN VoIP Gateways. The main reason for this is NAT. Therefore some tweaks need to be made to the 3CX Fax Service Configuration Files. IMPORTANT: VoIP Provider testing of the 3CX Fax Server was performed in March 2010 and this document was updated with the new information. The NAT changes described in this document apply for the following VoIP Providers: Inphonex, and Actiopl Some VoIP Providers do not need this setting but others will not work without it.  The best thing to do is to leave the configuration unchanged and try with the default configuration files as shipped by 3CX

What is the firewall checker and why do I need it?
October 3, 2009 – 12:11 pm | No Comment

Introduction The 3CX Firewall Checker checks whether the ports needed to communicate with your VOIP provider are open and properly configured with STATIC Port mapping. If the firewall checker does not complete successfully, you will not be able to make or receive calls from a VoIP provider or external extension. Common symptoms that are linked to incorrect firewall configurations are: No registrations One-way audio Stun Problems, or incorrect resolution The firewall checker can be run from “Settings-> Firewall Checker” page. Interpreting the test results If your firewall check results contains errors or warnings, you have a problem that you will need to address.

How do I configure a CISCO router to allow connection to a VOIP provider?

How do I configure a CISCO router to allow connection to a VOIP provider?

If you are using a VOIP provider , then you will have to configure your firewall correctly in order to get reliable results. Your firewall must support STATIC PORT MAPPING. 3CX Phone System needs the following ports mapped on the router or firewall to operate properly: Port 5060 (TCP and UDP) – Used for SIP protocol transmission – must be a static mapping, no port translation Port 5090 (TCP) – Used for 3CX tunnel (if tunnel is enabled) Port 9000-9015 (UDP) – Used for RTP protocol for incoming and outgoing calls For business grade results you will also need a static/dedicated IP. Note that many cheap routers do not correctly port forward, and this will lead to problems when making calls

Why is there no ringback tone when calling into 3CX via a Sangoma PRI card?
May 3, 2009 – 1:16 pm | No Comment
Why is there no ringback tone when calling into 3CX via a Sangoma PRI card?

This is because the Sangoma NetBorder software is configured for the PSTN side to provide the ringing, so if it is not then you will not hear any ringing. To fix this issue we must tell Sangoma NetBorder Express to provide the ring back tone. To do this, follow the steps below. First go into the “Gateway Manager” web interface and then click on “Configuration / PSTN Config” Next go to “Call Control -> ISDN configurations” and then select your T1 configuration Next in the configuration change the “Inband Progress Tones Generation:” as shown below to “ALWAYS” Stop and start the gateway to apply the changes The “Inband Progress Tones Generation” field can have 1 of 3 values: “never” – the gateway does not generate tones “as-needed” – the gateway rings if it receives a 180 and the call is not end-to-end ISDN (information element in the incoming ISDN SETUP message) “always” – the gateway generates a ring tone when it receives a 180, regardless of the content of the ISDN SETUP message By default, the gateway uses the “as-needed” setting.
